The line-geometry-shadow axis is the backbone of his poetics: either through paintings, drawings or sculptural constructions. From this triad, the artist embarks on compositions that, whether three-dimensional or not, give rise to architectures and “projects” of constructions that sometimes, and quite silently, carry traces of domesticity or affectivity: a geometric game that resembles the interior of a house, a composition built from wooden spoons, another with tiles and cobogós, a view of the sea, a painting of the back of a truck. Andrea Brown looks at this universal language, which is geometry, and through its mathematical rigor and precision, brings this language, at first arid, closer to a human experience, to a way of inhabiting the world. If in the early days of geometric abstraction the objective was to purge any and all traces of the “human presence” of the painting, the artist searches in geometry, without having to give up its rigor, precisely what is most human in it.
